CANADA SUMMER JOBS ADS 2019 The Near North Palliative Care Network (NNPCN) is a Volunteer Visiting Hospice providing respite to individuals with a terminal illness, and, offering peer to peer bereavement support throughout the community.  Our office is located at 2025 Main Street West, North Bay, Ontario. We are seeking three (3) Youth to fill positions in North Bay subject to NNPCN successfully receiving financial assistance provided by government funding.  These proposed positions are based on 30 hours per week at $14.00 per hour for eight (8) weeks.  Start date May 27th, 2019 is subject to the award of government funding.     To be eligible, youth must: be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment; be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment*; and, have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations. *International students are not eligible participants. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada. As the objective of the CSJ program is to support youth entering the Canadian labour market, the temporary nature of an international student’s time in Canada does not allow for a long-term connection to the labour market. 1. EVENT COORDINATION ASSISTANT : This dynamic individual will be responsible to implement our signature fundraising event, the 10th Annual Live Butterfly Release, a community celebration to be held Saturday, July 13, 2019 at the Kiwanis bandshell in the waterfront park in North Bay.  They will work directly with the Executive Director and Event Lead to source partnerships with organizations that partner with other organizations and organizations that provide programs and services to seniors, and donors, manage logistics for the event and recruit volunteers.  They will also promote the event with local media and via social media.  They will oversee the Live Butterfly Release event to ensure another successful year.  The 2019 Live Butterfly Release is an annual event where native butterflies are sold to those wishing to remember deceased loved ones.  Most of the donors are seniors and families of deceased seniors.  Last year we released 800 butterflies at this event attended by approximately 500 people. This youth will also reconcile the results of the event and suggestions and recommendations for future events.  Field of Studies:  Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, Multi-Media, Fundraising.    2. The Delta Hotels Ottawa City Centre, located at 101 Lyon St N, Ottawa, ON, K1R7Y5 is currently hiring a Catering Assistant. Responsibilities include:    Assist other departments when needed to ensure optimum service to guests. Maintain cleanliness of work areas throughout the day, practicing clean-as-you-go procedures. Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift. Read and visually verify information in a variety of formats (e.g., small print). Enter and locate work-related information using computers and/or point of sale systems. Exchange information with other employees using electronic devices (e.g., pagers and two-way radios, email). Engage guests in conversation regarding their stay, property services, and area attractions/offerings.    Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager; and complete safety training and certifications. Follow all company policies and procedures, ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional, maintain confidentiality of proprietary information, and protect company assets. Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards, anticipate and address guests' service needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and thank guests with genuine appreciation. Speak with others using clear and professional language, prepare and review written documents accurately and completely, and answer telephones using appropriate etiquette. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others, support team to reach common goals, and listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 10 pounds without assistance.
