Summary of responsibilities As a mental health crisis nurse, you will provide professional nursing care to a patient or group of patients in Emergency, using evidence-based nursing practices. You will ensure a therapeutic and professional relationship by collaborating with the patient, loved ones and members of the interprofessional team to plan, implement and assess their care while respecting their needs, values and beliefs. Profile and Experience General requirements Valid Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario Valid certificate in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), basic life support (level C) Specific requirements Bachelor’s degree in nursing, or Current enrolment in a bachelor’s program in nursing and additional experience of one (1) year in acute and/or emergency mental health Valid Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario Minimum of two (2) years’ relevant experience in acute and/or emergency mental health, acquired over the last five (5) years Knowledge of mental health community resources Ability to assess mental health clients from a physical, emotional, cognitive and social standpoint Member of the RNAO Assets Experience coordinating care CNA certification in mental health Advanced bilingual proficiency (French/English) Skills Abiliy to work in a team Ability to analyze and summarize information Good judgement and ability to make decisions Rigour and attention to detail Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to convey information Ability to cope with stress Ability to work with information technology tools Proficiency in written and spoken French and English, intermediate level Employment Equity Montfort is committed to employment equity and invites applications from women, Indigenous people, people with disabilities and visible minorities.
