Description:

The Plant Foreman coordinates manufacturing operations and oversees workers at the Aldergrove factory. As the point of reference of both workers the Manufacturing Manager and Shared Services Mangers on-site, the Foreman will be a key person for the completion of each project. The successful candidate will have a solid background in the wooden structure construction, proven leadership skills and ability to direct the work of others. A background in LEAN/Six Sigma and Industrial Safety, as well as good computer skills is needed.

This position is safety sensitive, and as such will require pre-employment alcohol, drug and fitness to work testing as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate tasks according to priorities and plans
  • Produce schedules and monitor attendance of crew
  • Allocate general and daily responsibilities
  • Supervise and train workers and tradespeople
  • Ensure manpower and resources are adequate
  • Guarantee all safety precautions and quality standards are met
  • Supervise the use of machinery and equipment
  • Monitor expenditure and ensure it remains within budget
  • Resolve problems when they arise
  • Report on progress to managers, engineers etc.

Key Skills & Qualifications Required:

  • A University degree
  • Proven experience as construction foreman
  • In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment and OSH guidelines
  • Understanding of electrical, HVAC and plumbing systems
  • Ability to read drawings, plans and blueprints
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Ability to communicate and report effectively
  • Aptitude in math
  • Problem-solving abilities
  • Good physical condition and stamina
  • High school diploma or diploma in a skilled trade (electrician, carpenter etc.) Confidence
  • Technical skills:
    • Reading and understanding blueprints and specifications
    • An understanding of wood frame construction and associated trades
    • Experience managing staff in a formal and technical Health & Safety focused organization
  • Organisation and efficiency

  • IT and numerical skills
  • Communication skills
  • Teamworking skills

Skills & Qualifications Preferred:

  • University Degree
  • Project management skills
  • LEAN/Six Sigma Green Belt

Time Requirement:

  • Regular plant hours:   07:00 – 3:30 PM, M-F
  • After hours and weekends on-call
  • Available to oversee OT as required
  • 10% travel to other plants
