Six Month Contract (Bargaining Unit Position)


Mission Statement: Homes First Society develops and provides affordable, stable housing and support services to break the cycle of homelessness for people with the fewest housing options.


Hours of Work:         37.5 hours per week, flexible

Days of Work:           Tuesday to Saturday

This position assists clients who are housed within Homes First Society maintain optimal health and mental health stability, while adhering to the mission statement and policies & procedures of Homes First Society.


Job Description:

  • assist clients with residency, meals, room cleaning, grooming and hygiene, laundry, recreational and leisure activities and health monitoring
  • arrange, remind and/or escort clients to medical, psychiatric, dental and diagnostic appointments and/or treatments
  • communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
  • excellent time management skills
  • about to work independently and in inter-dependent teams
  • Update client files accordingly, keep accurate records and document daily information


  • Personal Support Worker Certification or equivalent work experience.
  • Knowledge of mental health issues and several years experience working with people with mental health issues.
  • Certificates in First Aid, CPR and Crisis Prevention
  • Ability to work shifts.
  • Knowledge of and/or experience with the homeless population, diversity issues, anti-discrimination practices and systemic reasons for homelessness an asset
  • excellent interpersonal skills


Working in an environment where there may be smoke is required.
