Job Title:  Developmental Service Worker/ Personal Support Worker

Worked Hours:  Monday to Friday 11:00-5:00 p.m.

Shift Times:  Days

Start Date:  Immediately


Reports to: Director of Care and/or Case Manager



Job Description:

The Caregiver is a member of the home care team who works under the supervision of the Care Coordinator and performs various personal care services as necessary to meet the client’s needs.  The Caregiver is responsible for observing clients, reporting these observations and documenting observations and care performed.   The Caregiver will be assigned in a manner that promotes quality, continuity and safety of a client’s care.

Certification as a Personal Support Worker or Developmental Service Worker from a recognized community college or vocational school.

Foreign-trained Nurses would be considered for PSW positions provided you are a resident of Canada and are legally eligible to work in Canada.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be a resident of and legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Minimum of one (1) year of documented experience required.
  • Experience working with Dementia clients an asset
  • Experience working with Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) clients an asset
  • Negative TB skin test or chest x-ray
  • Licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with the organization's requirements preferred but not required
  • Willingness to transport clients in your vehicle preferred but not required
  • Self-directing with the ability to work with little direct supervision
  • Empathy for the needs of the client
  • Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to express spoken and/or written ideas in English
  • Treats clients, staff and the public with courtesy, respect and presents a positive public image.
  • Works as a team member
  • Ensures confidentiality and security of the client’s medical information.
  • Successfully completes a short knowledge pre-Interview Test (80%)
  • Vulnerable Sectors Police Check completed in the last 12 months
  • 2 positive work references


Duties include but not limited too:   Working in clients home, supporting in all ADL’s, light housekeeping, meal preparation, exercise, and companionship.


  • Excellent communication skills in English required
  • French-speaking an asset

 Physical Requirements:   Must be able to stand walk, squat, bend, kneel, reach, twist, push and pull.  Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
