The Role:

Reporting to the Manager, PMO/CBI, the primary responsibilities of the Business Architect are:

  • Ensure a structured business architecture approach and methodology for capturing the key views of the enterprise is applied.
  • Work with Process Stewards, Executives and the Council to define the set of strategic, core and support processes that transcend functional and organizational boundaries; identify and describe external entities; and describe which people, resources and controls are involved in the processes.
  • Work closely with a counterpart in IT to align technical solutions with business needs.
  • Liaise with and provide direction, information, and input opportunities to regional operations staff as projects are identified, planned and implemented, bringing forward their perspectives and needs and ensuring they have access to current information on projects as they progress.
  • Support the overarching goals and work of the Continuous Business Improvement Team.

The ideal applicant is able to work with others at every level of the organization to solicit strategic imperatives from senior leaders and executives, and support managers as they leverage business architecture artifacts to create business plans and optimize operations.

The Business Architect role requires the ability to:

  • use model-based representations that can be adjusted as required to collect, aggregate or disaggregate complex and conflicting information about the organization;
  • visualize and create high-level models that can be used in future analysis to extend and mature the business architecture;
  • recognize structural issues within the organization, functional interdependencies and cross-silo redundancies;
  • lead process improvement;
  • provide effective leadership, and to teach and mentor others;
  • work in alignment within own team and across other teams; as well as respond effectively to concerns, manage and resolve conflict and enlist others in cooperatively accomplishing objectives.


Post-Secondary Education in Business or other relevant field. A minimum 5 years’ experience in business process modeling and the application of process improvement methods such as Lean production, Six Sigma, Lean Six Sigma, Total Quality Management.


  • Business Architecture certification e.g. Certified Business Architect (CBA)®, OCEB™ 2
  • Six Sigma – Black Belt
  • Lean Process Management certification
  • Other relevant certification in design, continuous improvement methodologies
  • Knowledge of CLBC processes

Travel: Frequent overnight travel is required. Transportation arrangements must meet operational requirements of CLBC. Use of own vehicle on expenses.
