Archeoworks Inc. has openings for archaeological field technicians in a seasonal position for conducting archaeological surveys, inventories, and excavations that may include Stage 2-4 cultural resource management projects. The position will be based in Toronto/GTA and surrounding areas, but travel for more distant projects may be required. Applicants must be amenable to travel for extended periods, as necessary to serve client needs. A high school diploma along with a demonstrated record of good work ethic is required. Although previous field experience on past archaeological projects is preferred it is not a requirement.
Additional responsibilities and competencies include:
Conduct field work and collect baseline data using prescribed data collection methods.
Survey project areas using archaeological methods and tools.
Organize field data, perform data entry, and keep detailed and understandable field notes.
Provide valuable insight and feedback to field director regarding archaeological site interpretations.
Conducting archaeological assessment in a variety of work environments outdoors in all weather.
Record sites, features, and artifacts in the field.
Operate sampling gear and maintain field equipment.
Comply with Company and client policies and procedures.
Support the zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.
Performing other duties as required.
High School Diploma.
Valid G- class Driver’s license is preferred but not required.
Ability to multitask and work under pressure.
Developed analytical skills and highly attentive to details.
