Job Description

Hourly Wage:                        $34.399 to $39.3058 per hour

Location:                                Veterans Memorial Lodge - Saanich

Closing Date:                         December 31, 2019

Schedule:                               TBD

Status:                                      Temporary Part-Time, .50 FTE (term is set to conclude on March 31, 2020)

The incumbent will be responsible for reviewing and updated Broadmead Care’s MSI prevention policies and procedures. The incumbent will complete a MSI Risk Assessment for all job classifications that pose an MSI Risk (client handling, support services, food services, laundry etc.).


Key Accountabilities:

  • Review current research and best practices related to MSI in long term care.
  • Identify control measures.
  • Identify and create action items based on the MSI Risk Assessment.




  • Experience providing occupational therapy or physiotherapy services in a long term care setting with elderly individuals who have chronic physical and psychosocial disabilities is preferred.
  • Experience working with an interdisciplinary team.
  • Experience in conducting MSI risk assessments preferred.



Current registration in good standing, or eligible for registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia.

Or Current registration in good standing, or eligible for registration with the College of Physiotherapists of British Columbia: eligible for membership in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association.


Skills / Abilities:

  • Knowledgeable about control methods associated with MSI factors.
  • Competency in organization of workplace; operation of equipment and prioritization and management of duties.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality in all written and verbal communication related to the client, their families, and staff.
  • Cooperative and effective manner in problem solving.
  • Capable of working efficiently, both independently and in collaboration with others.
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team whose team members have diverse backgrounds.
