Retail’s Future Leaders: 2018 Retail as a Career Scholarship Winners

TORONTO, June 4, 2018 /CNW/ – Seventeen post-secondary students received  $1,000 each as part of Retail Council of Canada’s Retail as a Career Scholarship program.  In addition the $1,000 award, there were also a $5,000 scholarship funded by Interac Corp and a $3,000 scholarship funded by Retail Council of Canada.

Now in its 15th year, the Retail as a Career Scholarship program has awarded almost $900,000 in scholarship and award benefits. Applicants are evaluated by retail industry experts on academic performance, professional references, and a personal essay.

“This year’s Retail as a Career Scholarship recipients excelled in their academic performance, professional references and personal essays where they shared their perspective about the future of retail.  Retail in Canada is in good hands if we can continue to nurture these students’ passion and desire to make a positive impact,” said Diane J. Brisebois, Retail Council of Canada’s President and CEO.  Added Ms. Brisebois, “And, as the largest private sector employer supporting the Canadian economy, a career in retail is an amazing opportunity for the best and brightest to lead and grow”.

In addition to the monetary prizes, this year’s finalists received an all-access pass, travel and accommodation to RCC STORE 2018 Conference, which broke all records this year as Canada’sbiggest retail conference.
